We all headed to Sunar Gow in Broughton Astley for June 2021. The restaurant has just been refurbished and is located in the village centre above a row of shops.
We were seated and plenty of poppadom’s were supplied, and the pickle tray was not only good but constantly replenished.
The menu is huge at the restaurant with plenty of Lobster dishes which we did not bother with. We went for a Chicken Vindaloo Jalfrezi, a Chicken Chana Saag, 2 Special Tawa’s, Lamb Tikka Balti, Veg, Boiled and Coconut rice.
The food was excellent overall given that the chef would have been under pressure with such a large menu. The restaurant was very busy and has a nice ambience. Unfortunately for us there was a very large party (which we were warned about, thank you owners) who were extremely noisy to the point of not being able to hold a conversation.
Despite all this the scores were extremely high, mainly due to the quality of food and extremely attentive and friendly service.
As you will see that there was one member score that was extremely low due to the large party. This was not a reflection of the amount of noise they made but more about COVID-19 regulations as it would have been unlikely that upwards of 30 males would have been from only 2 households!
- in a group of any size from up to two households (each household can include an existing support bubble, if eligible)
If this had not been the case this establishment could have easily won the coveted prize in 2021 as the food and service was exceptionally good.
Well worth a visit. You will not be disappointed.
