April 2026 – 3 Kilns, Hinckley
9 years ago, we visited The Indian Chef at 3 Kilns in Leicestershire, which was ranked 3rd back in 2017. So, when we heard they had opened a new 3 Kilns in Hinckley, we had to go and try it out.

We took a chance on a smaller, café like restaurant this month, it’s always a pleasant diversion to find somewhere different and compare the possibilities with the more traditional restaurants. The establishment selected was Indian Rooster on Ashby Road in Loughborough. Parking was easy using Sainsburys car park which is almost next door where you can park for up to two hours, it’s handy to combine some shopping or topping up your fuel tank as well if planned accordingly.
Our February visit was to a restaurant on Uppingham Road, which was found via a website search, and upon reading the reviews, thought we’d give it a try.
It is situated on a busy road so parking can be a problem – parking is available near Humberstone Park a short walk away, or on one of the nearby side roads.
What a start to January 2026! We headed to the new Aberdale on Shackerdale Rd, Wigston.
For December 2025 we visited this former pub in Birstall which has become a Indian restaurant/pub. Read about our visit which is the last for 2025 ahead of our final visit to the winner for 2025 later in the month.
The month of October 2025 brought us a long overdue visit to Mem Saab on Vaughan Way in Leicester city centre. Parking was easy using the Highcross multi-story car park immediately over the road.

Cinnamon Central was the venue for our September visit, which is situated on Belvoir Road in Coalville, a former coal mining town in North-West Leicestershire. There is a public car park nearby on James Street which is free of charge in the evenings.
We headed to the Wheel Inn in Rearsby for a local one as we are all based within a couple of miles of this establishment.
We recently returned to the Jungle Club in Leicester to try Sam’s Spice, now operating in the restaurant area previously visited back in 2017. Back then, under different ownership, the restaurant scored 30.5 and ranked 7th in our annual round-up that year. Sam’s Spice is operated/owned by Samir from Broadway Bar & Grill so I was really looking forward to this visit.
