Well, what a find this one is!!
When we started the Leicester Curry Club back in 2011 this is exactly what we wanted to achieve, finding new and exciting Indian restaurants. 146 establishments later we are still finding gems!
This place is so off the radar but hopefully not for long. A family-owned business that serves English breakfasts in the day but then converts to a licensed Indian restaurant in the evening. The menu is not large but there are some very tasty things on there and some of the starters are of their own designs and recipes which are prepared fresh to order.
You could not really ask for a nicer introduction, the owner sat us at our table and explained exactly what the restaurant was all about and their passion and desire to create fantastic food.
The restaurant is licensed, and they have a good array of beers and non-alcohol beers. The owners asked us to be very honest in our review and one tiny criticism was that the beers could have been a little more chilled. Apart from that our members had nothing but praise for the establishment.
After the usual poppadom’s and pickles, we ordered 2 Chicken Shashlik Sizzlers with a Madras sauce, 2 Chicken Jalfrezi madras hot and a Chicken Chana Masala, Jeera Rice and an assortment of Nan’s. Plain, Chilli Cheese and Peshwari.
All the mains were very good, and my Chicken Shashlik Sizzler was the best dish that I had in many years! No complaints at all about the food or the service, we really got looked after as we are sure all customers that visit this restaurant will.
This restaurant is NOT your typical curry house but please try and give it a visit, you will not be disappointed.
The scoring panel gave it 36 out of 40 and is currently winning 2024. Hopefully we will be returning in December to present the winners trophy!
