Just down the road from last month’s Herb restaurant, was one of the newest Indian restaurants in Leicester, Indiana Bar & Restaurant. It doesn’t look particularly big from the outside but as soon as you walk in it opens out with plenty of room and a good area for the drinkers to enjoy the bar.
We were greeted by the manager Vikram who took us to a booth which is unusual but was very pleasant. We ordered cold Moretti which hit the spot and was ice cold and a Heineken Zero. We ordered a papadom basket (their description) and x2 pickle trays which we tucked into whilst we went through the menu, the menu is quite extensive as is the drinks menu.
We ordered Lamb chops x 2 with a Madras sauce (extra £3) these were well accepted, Lamb Jalfrezi Madras which was very tender, Murg Jalfrezi very spicy and finally one member went for a special Chicken Biryani which came in a bread pot, you had to cut it open to eat it but it was so hot in temperature that he was still trying to eat it 52 minutes later and in the end took it home, we ordered all the usual Naan’s and rice’s.
To summarise the drink and food was good which it needs to be in the middle of Leicester, the Manager did a great job but some of the staff needed a little more training. The meal for 5 people came to £141.50 which we thought was reasonable for the city centre.
