263-265 Abbey Ln, Leicester LE4 5QH
33/40
Well, just when you think that we’ve covered most decent establishments in Leicestershire, another one pops up!
This was recommended by a relation and turned out to be a great pub turned restaurant. It is located on the busy Abbey Lane into Leicester but has plenty of off-street parking.
We were ushered into the restaurant to the rear of the property and couldn’t quite believe how busy and vibrant it was for a damp Wednesday evening.
Once seated we were immediately asked about which drinks we wanted, and they came instantly. We ordered plain and spicy poppadom’s which came with 2 pickle trays.
Most members ordered their usual dishes. Chicken Tawa, Lamb Chops, Chicken Chana Saag, Lamb Kheema & Tikka Mix and 1 small Boneless Mixed Sizzler. A range of different Naans, Rotis, 2 Garlic and Onion Rice and a plain rice.
All of the food was of a very good standard. There was a mix up on the Chicken Chana Sagg, and the dish was offered to be replaced, but the member opted to have a side portion of Chicken Tikka rather than a replacement.
The food bill was slightly less than we normally pay which was nice but of most importance was the friendliness of all the staff that looked after us during the evening. They were very quick with any drinks ordered and were all very charming and accommodating. Obviously the standard and taste of food is paramount, but how often do you have a great meal with miserable staff? At this establishment you get great food and great service.
A BIG THANK YOU FOR A GREAT EVENING TO ALL AT BROADWAY BAR & GRILL.
