This month we made a trip to Gurkha New Delhi in Mountsorrel, it is on the main road going through Mountsorrel, the restaurant has been open for 4 years, it’s quite deceiving as it goes back a long way with plenty of seating and nice little areas, although it is very clean it needs a refresh, there is still a covid poster on the wall.
Upon arrival we walked into an empty restaurant and had to go through to the kitchen to announce our arrival, we ordered drinks, I have to say one of the best pints of Cobra I have ever had, ice cold just the way it should be.
We ordered poppadom’s and two pickle trays which came out very quickly, they were very good, the problem was that the restaurant started to fill up as they have a Wednesday night special with a set meal for £15, then with only 2 staff they couldn’t cope, we had to keep going to the bar to get some drinks.
We ordered 2 Lamb Tawa Madras, Large Tandoori Lamb Chops, Maharaja Mugali and Chicken Dum Biryani with the usual Rice’s and Naans, the next thing that happened was that one of our members complete meal was missed which is inexcusable considering they were all ordered at the same time, so they had to make the meal as we all sat eating our food.
In conclusion the food was all very good, but they didn’t have enough staff to cope with a fairly busy night, the décor needs a refresh. The bill came to £146 for the 5 of us which is standard.
