In February, we visited Sangeeth. Based in the locally famous building known as The Case, it already sets an expectation for quality. Inside, the layout is pretty much how The Case was, with high ceilings and windows creating an open aspect and views of the St Martins area.
Sangeeth describes itself as “an exciting fusion of traditional South Indian cuisine and modern culinary innovation”.
We booked online, which was easy, and used Google Reservations. We were left for a while on arrival and then gestured to find our table. I think it would have been nice to have been taken over. Sometime later, we put in our drinks order, Cobra on tap and Perioni 0% bottled. Unfortunately, the Cobra was flat.
Poppadoms were presented rolled and with its own homemade dips. This makes a change from the fashionable broken poppadom baskets, which were nice.
We ordered 2 Chicken Biryani, Lamb Biriyani, and Lamp Chops with Quinoa.
I had Chicken Biriyani. I was surprised it was on the bone meat, which should have meant it was “juicy” as described on the menu. It was, in fact, the driest meat I’ve eaten. I don’t know how it was cooked, but I wouldn’t order it again.
The Lamb Biriyani was a lot better and enjoyed “very good”. Lamb chops were average.
Service this evening felt understaffed. We were not asked if everything was ok or proactively offered more drinks. The 12% optional service charge was taken off, leaving the bill at £147.40 for 4 – expensive compared to most of our outings.
Finally, a visit to the toilet was disappointing to find this area unclean. In general, it felt a little tired with not a lot done since it was The Case. Overall, I don’t think we will be rushing to return. Maybe this was an off-midweek night, let us know if you have a different experience.
